Tui Na is a form of Chinese bodywork and medical massage therapy that uses massage manipulations to stimulate acupressure points or surface regions of the body, restoring physiological balance and promoting circulation.
Tui Na is not generally used as a wellness or relaxation therapy, but rather as a modality to address specific patterns of disharmony. It is used for many of the same reasons and according to the same principles as acupuncture and acupressure. Like acupuncture and acupressure, TCM uses Tui Na to harmonise yin and yang in the body by manipulating Qi in the body and meridians.

The Effects of Tuina from a Western perspective are based on:
- Pain reduction based on the production of endorphins, histamine and serotonin
- Improvement of blood flow and dilatation of blood vessels
- Improvement of the function of the lymphatic system
- Regulation of muscle tonus
- Increase physiological function of muscles
- Influencing dermatomes and myotomes influences internal organs
- Psychogenic effects
