This ancient practice, whose name literally means “push and grasp,” uses a variety of hands-on techniques including kneading, pressing, rolling, and stretching to stimulate circulation, release tension, and support your horse’s natural healing processes.

During a Tui Na session, I employ specific massage strokes and pressure techniques along your horse’s meridian pathways and muscle groups, working to move stagnant energy and improve the flow of Qi (vital life energy) throughout the body. The practise integrates elements of acupressure by targeting key therapeutic points while also addressing broader areas of muscular tension and restriction. Tui Na sessions are tailored to each horse’s particular needs and comfort level.

This comprehensive approach makes Tui Na particularly effective for dealing with:

Performance issues

Tension or discomfort

Recovery from injury or illness

Chronic stiffness or fatigue, or

Horses who benefit from regular wellness maintenance and preventative care

Horses often respond beautifully to the varied textures and rhythms of Tui Na, with many showing visible relaxation and improved comfort during and after treatment. The practise can help enhance flexibility, reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and support digestive health, while also promoting emotional calm and mental clarity.

Tui Na blends beautifully with other bodywork practices like acupressure or myofascial release, offering a well-rounded, holistic path to equine wellness.
